E-Class Service Questions

Just serviced my 2005 E320 a few months ago and have some questions. The comments are as follows:

SERVICE 13 DONE OIL & FILTER 8.0L OIL SERVICE 12 DONE A/F-45C REAR BATTERY OKAY, FRONT BATTERY BAD REPLACE FRONT SBC BATTERY 12.0MM FRONT BRAKES, 5.5MM LEFT ON TIRES, RR 3.5MM SERVICE 4 DONE, REPLACE DUST FILTER SERVICE 11 DONE LUBE PANORAMIC ROOF.

Cost me CAD$390 for parts and labour all included.

My next service should be coming up in a few months and my questions are as follows:

1) How many mm are new brakes? When can I anticipate to change my brakes? How fast do these brakes go? How much are new brakes? Do I only have front brakes and not rear brakes?

2) When are brake discs changed?

3) When is standard procedure to change your tires (in mm)? How much is it to change all 4 all-season tires?

4) What is RR?

Thanks!!

The thickness spec is in the service manual. Don't happen to have it now. However there are sensors that when worn will give you a + in the FSS service window. So when you see something like service C+ The + means that either the front or rear pads might need replacing. I found that on my E500 when the + is showing I can get about another 25000 miles before changing pads. But then I do them myself. I am sure the dealer will be much more conservative and want to change them at the +. My first + showed at 30,000 miles and JUST pads on the front were $450.

2) When are brake discs changed?

See NOTE 1

3) When is standard procedure to change your tires (in mm)? How much is it to change all 4 all-season tires?

I don't change tires but then I don't live where snow is an issue. I run Michelin's Pilots year round.

4) What is RR?

Remove and Replace

Thanks!!

Note all answers are in blue.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Find an indie mb shop

to do your work or learn to DIY.
Brake rotors minimum specs are on the rotors.
Per above you are capable of doing your own brakes.
factory dvd or alldatadiy.com has the WIS.
If it has sbc you need to follow all safety precautions
Tires you can plus size with larger rims or go wider with a different profile on the stock rim,you just need to keep the rolling diameter within 3% of stock.
http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp
for the science behind tires
front and rear rotors are about $100 per end depending on if you have the vented rears
at www.autohausaz.com
if you don't do them or find an indie mb shop,be prepared for sticker shock,mb dealers except in rare situations always r/r the rotors even if they are mirror smooth and show almost no wear.

You can also do

your own oil and filter changes.Mobil1 ow40 syn mb spec.It is very easy and filters are only about 12 bucks plus the cost of the oil.

I replace my tires at 3mm if it is during the wet season, but I drive them lower during the dry period. Also, I use summer tires which handle much better to begin with, especially during the rain, so you may want to replace the all-seasons sooner since they will probably be unsafe in the rain at 3mm.

I would strongly suggest buying good summer tires and buying an extra set of winter wheels/tires. The car will be much better in any possibly condition, and long term operating costs may actually be lower due to increased fuel economy.
