Radio on with key out of ignition?

Pulled my 2009 E350 into my garage this evening, took the key out of the ignition, opened the door and realized that I needed something out of the glove compartment. As I leaned over to get to the glove compartment, I accidentally hit the power button for the radio/navigation/comand system and the radio turned on. I had no idea that the radio, etc. were still powered after the key was out of the ignition and door was opened.

Is this normal?

I assume that I could look up the answer in the manual but I don't have it handy.

Thanks.

Yes, this is normal. Mercedes-Benz cars have done this since at least the mid 1980s if not earlier.

Thanks! My previous cars (non-MB) usually kept the power to the windows and radio after the ignition was off and key was out of the ignition but then cut off when the door was opened.

I think it is a good feature of Benz, you can turn on radio any time without carying keys. BMW behaves differently, you stop engine and leave car, however radio will continue working about 5 minutes and then you need keys to keep it up.
