I have spent a good deal in MB DAS as could not find the option. I am sure the factory software doesn't do the removal. I believe the magic number is 135 non AMG and have it it a few times up hill so its not rolling past 130. Its a shame cause I think BMW 5's are like 140 or 150 and the 500/550's pull to 135 easy.
Renntech and other ECU upgrades remove the limiter as mentioned above. I haven't had that much need to go past 135. I move from 90 - 115 a lot but don't like the problems you can run into getting pulled over at 110+

So an E500 was racing me last night and we got to 130mph and I hit the limit, I immediately thought that oh well I guess that we will both cruise at 130. But I noticed that he was still pulling away from me, I was completely confused... until I found this thread.
The limit being related to the tires makes sense; I won’t try to remove the limit until I get my new rims and tires.
