help, can anyone identify this part?

2006 E320 CDI
I bought a new steering wheel for the car, after removing the old one i found this on the back of the airbag mounting bracket, the new doesnt have this, anyone know what it is and if its necessary to keep in the wheel?

it has a number on it

btw... 2006 E320 CDI
it also has a forge stamp that says 28.5Hz

there is also some other numbers..
the wheel unit itself is
211 460 21039

beneath that number is
61765000A Q13
40209 / 13.02.2006

anyone clarify that 13.03.2006, is that build date feb 13 2006, cause if so i guess i got my 'good luck' today!!!

I think its a bracket for Heated Steering wheel where the wires would plug into a electrical component

oh, you mean like fig. 20.. would mount to that,

i suppose that would not matter if i was to leave it out,
but I am thinking its got something to do with the airbag,
due to its trw stamp, I called the dealership and sent the same four shots to them
they didnt know what it was either, but suggested it migrate to the new wheel
