Rest mode is an amazing feature. I use it at least twice a week when I park and drink a tea or read something, listen to the radio.

I would really miss it if I didn't have it.

It does work ONLY when you set the car to NON-AUTO mode. If it is in NON-AUTO mode nice cool fresh air pours in and blows on your face (head area) and wakes you up..

This too is an amazing feature I use daily..

This is gonna sound completely retarded, but I've never known what the "Auto" button does in the A/C/Heat unit, it's on the right side Temp spinning wheel on the 211's I think, I just always have it off

"Auto" means that you set a temperature and the system makes it own judgements continually about fan speed, outlets used to blow air etc. necessary to maintain your selected temperature. (Higher fan speed at first then it tapers off...) Whan YOU select a fan speed or an air oulet to blow thru, you override the auto feature and the outlet chosen AND the fan speed are permanent until you choose another combo. You manually maintain the temperature. You can get too cold or hot if not adjusted by you periodically.

In auto mode, lets say you are comfortable and you get to the Bank's drive thru & have to wait on line in the sun. The HVAC will automatically adjust the fan speed and air outlet to give you more cool air output for the car, which is baking in the sun and not getting enough cooling out of the A/C system. In manual mode, it stays on the previously set settings unless you adjust the controls, which will then be wrong when you are underway again.

Automatic climate control VS Manual. In Auto, your most important setting is the desired Temp you select, which will NOT be the same number you would select in your home.
