MB must expect the Head Unit to heat up to go to lenghts to cool it. I wonder if the fan is audible.

Maybe, maybe not. depending on wether or not the HVAC system is running. I would also be concerned about duct noise

The W204 sure is audible. When you turn the key on you can hear a fan "test" itself by speeding up and idling down. It sounds like the intake or exhaust (or possibly the fan itself) is underneath the driver side kickpanel.

The W204 blower (on Comand or MM cars) is pretty much the same as shown for the W212.
