Change was due @ 39000 miles therefore I would recommend changing it.

Ok well I bought the dipstick tool when I had an 04 c240 and changed the tranny fluid myself. My question is....Does the 2006 e350 have the fill reservoir under the hood like the c class so I can fill from there and use the tool to measure?

if theres one thing on a mb service that you dont put off its a trans service.
if you have a 5 speed trans its a 722.6 and then it has the fill tube at the top of the engine
if its a 722.9 (ie 7 speed trans) you can not do the trans service without special mb equipment.
a full trans service should replace the following:
trans pan gasket
trans filter
trans pan bolts
trans fluid
trans drain washer(yet if you pull the pan on the 722.6 you dont have to remove the trans drain plug)
(if 722.6 reccomended replacment of trans eletrical connector)
(722.6 red connector to seal trans plug in top of fill tube)

I took the car in a few days age (still under warranty) and they ended up finding that the valve gear was faulty. They ended up replacing the valve gear, valve body, gasket, oil filter, transmission fluid, screws, rings, and screws with collars. In other words, they did the transmission service for me because they had to replace the valve body and gear.
Can someone tell me what exactly the valve body and gear are? It seems like they did a good job, but the transmission seems a little more jerky now.
