Good-Bye Yellow license plate light, Hello white LED
I found a fast and simple soultion under <$25 and 30 minutes.
STEP ONE Buy (2) 5 Watt 100OHM resistors from http://www.autolumination.com/
STEP TWO Buy (2) 39mm Festoon LEDs available from ebay. (no more than 6 LED light. Any more like 8 or 9 and its too bright and looks like crap. i know I bought 6, 8, and 9 LED lights.
STEP THREE Remove black carpeted trunk deck liner. (10 min)
STEP FOUR Locate the wires for each plate light. (5 min)
STEP FIVE Cut the wires and solder in the resistor inline on both pos and neg side of the light. Each connection will have (3) wires joined together and two splice per light. (15 MIN) You can also use inline splice to save time.
STEP SIX: Wrap with black electrical tape and reinstall deck liner. (10 min)
STEP SEVEN: install LEDs (5 MIN)
STEP EIGHT: Enjoy.
Looks similar to the Lexus LS460 and NO lamp failure indication.
