I cant find Engine Oil level Display in the Instrument panel
Guys,
Here are the options that it shows:
- MPH --> Outside Temp --> Maintenance Call-up
I'm told after Maint Call-up there should be an option "Check Engine Oil level" ? .... Any thoughts why this isn't there ? My Mfg date is 02/05
thanks

If your car is an '07, like mine... Our cars have dipsticks under the hood. There is no on dash check oil mechanism.
Previously, the 211s had no dipstick & the dash was the only way to check the oil level.

You can always turn the key to position 1 (the SRS light illuminates) and make sure the cluster is displaying the MPH or Temp in the main display (Basic Display) and press the Trip Reset button three times quickly. The I/C will beep and will give you a reading in quarts.

I went into the Maint Menu by holding the reset button pressed & the following came up:
SERVICE MENU
- Service Date
- Items
- Addit. Work
- Confirmation
I went into each of them but couldn't find the Oil Level.
Service Date did have the Volts, Miles to Service & Days to Service ...
I have a pic in my phone if that'll help

007,
I have virtually the same car, 2006 E350 and I can confirm that I've got an underhood dipstick and no oil level read from the display.
YMMV, but you may be stuck with the dipstick.

ah ... so its either/ or ... I thought we had both options
the delimma is that dealer replaced my 'yellow' dipstick with a Red one which is shorter ... hence the oil level it shows is above the max (literally on the string, outside of the scale)
Thanks everyone

Maybe with the new 4-valve engines (350, 550, etc.) they took the computer readout out, and put the dipstick back in. I honestly think the dipstick thing is better.

The dipstick is the way to go; it's more reliable, accurate and cheaper to manufacture. Having the computer to check oil level is a bad idea -- unreliable, not accurate and expensive to replace the sensors if they go bad. I have no idea what MB or BMW was thinking about by putting in the oil level electronic sensors. Obviously, MB now thinks it was a bad idea. Glad to hear that the dipstick is back.

I find myself checking the oil level more often with the computer, perhaps every other fill up. With the dipstick, I check about once a month.
Both work ok in my opinion, but the wife wouldn't even know where to find the dipstick under the hood.

Why do I have a RED dipstick
I told the dealer there was a recall for 06s for dipsticks and he confirmed it was done, although when I picked up my car I saw instead of Yellow it has a RED color dipstick ... not to mention it shows oil level way above Max .... Does Red depict anything ?

Which Diesel Configuration Do You Prefer?
Thanks for educating me about that little fact.
I don't like the idea of not having a dipstick. Both methods would indeed be nice, but . .
You have both the I-6 in your '06 and the V6 in your '07, correct? Which motor do you prefer?
When searching for a good used MBZ diesel E-320 sedan, should I aim for a clean
I-6 or try to find a nice '07 with a V6 and the seven speed automatic?

Correct dipstick for your vehicle should have marking 27214 per DTB P-B-18.00/31c FEB07 (section B) in your possession. Furthermore, you should have your dealer assist in bringing up the IC oil level check to confirm whether or not your 06 is equipped as such.
