Tranny and rear diff
So my 2003 E has 35k miles. I baby the car bc i have 2 other vehicles. Last month my check engine light went on and my O2 sensor was defective. My SA and my dealer changed it under a GoodWill warranty bc my family has purchased 6 vehicles from Rallye.
2 weeks later my tranny started slipping and a funny noise from the rear end.
The differential was locking up so they changed it, but also it has the gylcol contamination.
My co-worker had the same issue and he said they had to change his tranny????
Dealer said they have to flush out the tranny and we will see what happens. RAllye has been very understanding and helping me out with thee issues. I feel bad getting rid of the car bc its garaged and has 35k miles. The trade in value is ridiculous.
.............
Just venting my frustrations............

tons of info on this topic- i just changed my radiator out as the ones installed in 03's have defective crimps where the tranny lines connect to the radiator allowing coolant to flood the transmission. This would not have anything to do with your rear end though...

Get yourself a new updated radiator and install it yourself (not bad at all) or have a mechanic install it- then quit worrying about it

I had the same problem and mine is a 02/04 build 2004 model. The noise in the rear is what they called "rotational noise from underbody of car." They changed my transmission, radiator, cooling lines, and i don't know if they changed the torque converter as well.

update
So my dealer, changed torque converter, lines, flushed tranny changed rear diff. Basically they overhauled everything but did not change transmission. 1.5 yrs later. SAME PROBLEM. 1 yr warranty OVER!!!!
I am going to bring it to a local shop to get and estimate. The dealer labor charge is a KIller!!!!!
Also there is a low squeaking from front right wheel. Looking up other post, its seems the ball joint may be shot. The has 44k miles on it.
So many problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did he flush it (7+ liters) or did he drop the pan (4 liters)? Big difference. Try a flush. If that doesnt work you either need a new torque converter or a new tranny.
