bilstein comfort or HD??!!

I've been searching the forum for our car and it seems no one has really said "Im using bilstein comfort" or "Im using bilstein HD".....I looked on the bilstein website and it appears that they don't make bilstein sport shocks for our W211 cars...is that correct?

I've been lowered on H&R's for the past year and a half with stock shocks (which are totally dead now) and need to get new shocks...just want to know which shocks did most of you lowered guys go for?

Thanks,
Javs

Yes, totally aware of what you're asking. I wanted to improve the suspension on my E320-CDI as there isn't the airmatic option on the CDIs. Bilstein is the only shock/strut company that I would consider. Bilstein has two options for our W211, their comfort series and the PSS9 coilover system. The comfort setup is 15% firmer than OEM. I chose to install the PSS9 coilover system with nine settings, where 9=comfort and 1=track/competition. The settings 1-9 is linear and its a bypass valve adjusting the compression/rebound. This system is wonderful, I can set the ride height exactly where I want it and the level of firmness.

thanks for the reply seahonu .... i think at this point i wanted to stay away from the adjustable since i have had adjustables in other cars before and never changed the settings, so Im leaning more to either the comfort or HD's but just want to know what others have chosen..

Thanks,

Javs

How much was your Bilstein kit and how much was the installation? I'm looking into this for a while now as you can see here.

Is this actually the kit you got?

I hadn't seen that remote setup. I got the PSS9 for W211 - LIMOUSINE 04/02 B16, part#: F4-GM5-8876-H0. I had paid $1700 from GMP. And as for installation, I did it myself. Watch out for the OEM springs, they're reallllly tall. Standard spring compressors aren't long enough to hold/release the full length of the OEM springs.

The HD will ride rougher but the improved handling is very noticeable...my experience from my w210.

just an update, well i went ahead with bilstein HD's....I also changed all my front end bushings and ball joints and a few control arms or thrust arms (I have 150k miles on my E320)....I spent about $3k for all parts and labor and so far I love how it handles and rides....I did notice though that the shocks in front are height adjustable, I think, and now my front seems to be higher than when I had my old shocks on (btw, Im lowered on H&R's)..

anyone else lowered their car and went with bilstein HD's out there???
