39K trans service
I just did my 07 E350 at 39K, the dealer insisted that it was unneccessary as the transmission is sealed for life. Yeah sure!
Paid about $300 for it at the dealer.
I have the extended warranty and didn't want any problems down the road with the dealer saying I didn't comply with the service requirements.

that's interesting because on my 500 the only thing at 39K is the SBC brake flush on the C service ( I think it was C) no tranny flush as I recall only brake flush 150 bucks +/-

You don't want to flush
the trans. And the service required at 39K is a TSB directed to dealers to satisfy demands from owners about poor shift quality on the 722.6.
Your dealer needs to read his TSB's.Or find a different dealer,or Diy drain and fill.MB spec fluid only,autohausaz.com Has the filter and fluid and I have the dipstick and magnet.

Is almost impossible for some of you with newer 722.9's to DIY.
There is no fill tube; requires a pump to refill the trans through the "drain" plug on the pan.

US Service 20 once at 39,000 miles:
Underside of vehicle
Automatic transmission - oil and filter change.
Transfer case - oil change (4MATIC only)
So in my opinion it is more than a TSB driven activity. The question that remains is exactly what is required to remain in compliance with the warranty.
I don't want to pay for a flush if that's not required which is what I'm sure they are going to do. I'm sure that I can drop the transmission pan and replace the filter if that is all that is required. What about the torque converter fluid? What is the service for the transfer case oil change. Is that a flush or an easy DIY?

I almost forgot to do this for my C. It seems quick though to change it at 39K. At least, I won't forget for my new E when I reached that milage.

So now what do I do? I did bring this issue up when I filled out the survey. I requested that they show me that this was per Mercedes procedures and so far have gotten the run around. How do I contact Mercedes? My thinking at this point is to go in and demand that they provide documentation that this is per Mercedes procedure or they do it by the book free of charge or get Mercedes involved.

Request to speak with the service manager of the dealership if this fails to resolve the matter contact MBUSA CAC (customer assistance center) 800-367-6372.

I can't imagine they'd change tranny fluid and not the filter - maybe they were out of them and didn't want to wait to get one in - it's just a drop the pan and change it process - 7 qts of tranny fluid I believe it was - plus like a qt for the transfer case on the 4matic - 300 bucks for all - It might be my imagination but it does seem to shift smoother though it always was pretty smooth - now it's totally seamless -

Got a question about the new valve body. Took the car in for service and mentioned that my tranny was a little abrupt in the upshift and after checking it over, the dealer changed it out. It still seems to be abrupt though not as bad. It's only been a couple of days, will the software adapt after a while to give better shifts or is this as good as it gets?
