Brake Peddle Noise

What's a good fix, if any, for making the brake peddle quieter? When I release the brake peddle, especially quickly, it make a small thrump noise. Not too noticeable in long distance travel but in in town traffic, using the brake much more, of course. Seems like there should be some little DIY technique, like putting a rubber gromet on the shaft of the peddle, that can muffle this sound which is just a tid bit annoying. I know this is kind of a nit pick, but again, on these very expensive autos, you would think the designers would have taken care of this. Anyone got a little DIY trick for this or is it something to just live with?
