hmmm ur not too bright are you

When i sad about half the price I was obviously exxagerating. They are substantially less to buy and lease. Even a 10 to 15 percent price difference is several THOUSAND dollars. Its money and for some of us its a concern

Here is a comparison between a 2003 E500 and a 2003 BMW 540i. The MSRP for the Mercedes vs. the BMW is $55,570 and $52,495, respectively, and the price similarly equipped is $62,465 (MB) and $60,680 (BMW).

So, the BMW MSRP is 5.8% less, and the similarly-equipped difference is 2.9%.

3% doesn't strike me as a substantial difference. I think the Mercedes is worth that and more over the BMW.

Just my opinion.

No one is "BMW Bashing" it's just thay if you make a statement on this forum you should be able to back it up with FACTS,that's all.

If you say, for example, that BMW's are significantly cheaper than Benz's that's fine, but you should be able to support that arguement with examples of how (even if it's just the pricing in your own country).

Contributors should be able to say whatever they want but should be able to back it up with facts when asked.

BMWs are cheaper

The 3 series, 5 series, and 7 series are all less expensive than a comparably equipped Benz. I am BMW bashing. I previously owned a 750il, a 328ci, and now own a x5 4.4. The 4.4 is relativly trouble free, but the other two forget it. The most unreliable cars ever. THERE ARE EVEN WEBSITES WITH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE 750IL.

FIRST DETAILS

Today, boys and girls, we are going to compare the ever popular BMW 330ci, to a 2003 CLK320 Couple. Both contain comparable engines:

BMW 330CI - 3.0L DOHC I6
MB CLK320 - 3.2L SOHC V6

CLK Base Price - 44,620
BMW Base Price - 36,295

For all those math wizzes, thats a difference of 8,325 dollars

Now...lets add some options starting with the BMW 330ci

-Titanium Silver Metallic Paint, Black Leather and Wood Trim
-Cold Weather Package
-3 Stage heated front seats
-Retractable, high intensity headlight washers
-Ski bag
-Premium Package
-Automatic dimming inside rear view mirror
-Myrtle Wood trim
-2 way power glass moonroof
-Montanna leather upholstery
-4 way power lumbar supports for front seats
-Rain sensing windshield wipers with automatic headlight control
-Sport Package
-M Double Spoke (Styling 68M) alloy wheels, 17 x 7.5 front, 17 x 8.5 rear; 225/45ZR-17 front, 245/40ZR-17 rear performance tires
-8-way power front sport seats with 2-way manual headrests and thigh support; 3-driver memory for exterior mirror and seat positions; automatic tilt-down of passenger’s side-view mirror when vehicle is shifted into reverse gear
-White turn-signal indicators
-STEPTRONIC automatic transmission
-Park distance control, rear only
-Bi xenon headlights
-On Board Navigation System

This brings our total to 45,095 which is exactly $475 more than the base price of the clk320. AMAZING!!! ISNT IT. A fully loaded car (which has more electrical problems than LIPA) for only 475 more than a good car, known as a clk320.

Now we are going to add similar options to our 2003 CLK320

Metalic Silver Paint, Black Interior, Wood Trim

-Sport Package
-17" 5-Spoke Alloy Wheels
· Performance Tires:
· (F) 225/45 ZR17; (R) 245/40 ZR17
· Enlarged Chrome Exhaust Finisher
· Patterned Aluminum Trim
· Sport Shift Knob w/Chrome Trim
· Rubber-Studded Brushed Aluminum Pedals
-K3: Value Added Package
-Glass sunroof
-Power Rear-Window Sunshade
-K4: Value Added Package
-Headlamp Washing System
-Bi-Xenon Headlamps
-Command System w/o cassette
-Factory Installed CD Changer
-Heated Front seats
-Ski Sack w/Trunk Pass Thru
-Parktronic

Total Price: 53,270

We left out a few options like Distronic, Keyless Go, Motorla V60 and voice control, and the navigation CD collection. Distronic, and keyless go arent offered by BMW.

Now lets also keep in mind, the MB is 8175 us dollars more than the BMW. Keep in mind you will pay an extra $694.88 of sales tax in Nassau County, Long Island New York. Furthermore, options that we left out such as distronic, keyless go, the v60 phone with voice control, and the navigation cd collection, could bring our total up to 59,375. These options are not neccessarily out of the ordinary options that one would never use but prove rather valuable if you have a car with one

I think this concludes chapter one of our Mercedes to BMW price comparison. Tomorrow, on the Mercedes is Better Show, we will show you the price differences between the BMW 5 series and the old, and new E Class.

Hey cgmike10....Why the attitude? I read the thread over again and I sure can't understand why you have developed the agressive attitude. Did I miss something?

for my next post...

for my next post should i compare the 5 series to the past or current E class? I personally think past would be a better comparison because they are platforms designed in similar years with more comparable options but if anyone would like to see both I would be more than happy to do that too.
