Seat belt sign ON

In addition to my troubles with panorama I have one more issue.

The seat belt sign on the dashboard (lights in red) is ON even when there is no front passanger in the car. To switch it off I simply fasten the empty passenger seat Did anybody have the same problem?

I thought that the problem relates to the passenger existance gauge (I dont know the right description), which is in-built in the cushion, however the "Passenger airbag off" light goes on when the passenger seat is empty and goes off when the passenger is in. So it looks like the gauge works properly

One more riddle

I used to have this problem. Out of no where the red seat belt indicator would come on. It would only happen in the morning or early afternoon. It stopped happening though. I dont know why it stopped but I dont care as long as it dosn't come back on. Btw I drive a 2005 E500 4matic.

There are four weight sensors (inner front/rear, outer front/rear) it is possible that one or more are malfunctioning and need replacement or recalibration with SDS. Mention DTB S-B-91.29/117a.

I had the same in the past! I noticed that this repeated when the inside temperature was cold and only even when someone seated on the front passenger seat at least once. If the passsenger seat was not occupated after the parking the car and have it locked for approximately couple of hours, this would not happend.

But now this problem exists regardless of the conditions. Looks like it should be checked by the dealership anyway.

Thanks to all!

I was going to get it checked but then it stopped. I definately think its a sensor because it would stop if you sit in the seat. Your right with the cold tempurature too, it would only happen in the morning when it was really cold out.

I had this trouble yesterday and figured out that the cat sitting in the seat had enough weight to trigger the call for seat belt.
