Help on rear cover for 2004 E320 211 Wagon

Anyone know where to start diagnosing this problem I have? On a 2004 E320 Sport Wagon, when I open the tailgate the parcel cover does not go up. I've checked all the fuses and they all are ok.

Does anyone know if there's a relay or something else that needs looking into?

Thanks in advance.

DTB P-B-68.50/27c this may be due to a software error in the rear SAM or the drive unit is sticking in the lower end position. Up to VIN B014421 or X21300 replace the left and right guide rails and if equipped with rear SAM part # 2115452101 or 2115452201 replace.

If CPO or you have an extended warranty repair is covered. If not, and your VIN is within range mentioned request a goodwill repair from Service Manager since DTB documents original parts installed at production were modified to correct this known matter. PM your email address if you want a copy of the DTB – includes diagnostic procedure.

We had the same problem on our 2008 wagon. It was the actuator switch for the electric cover.

I'll check that out. The connector of the for the switch is tiny and I can't seem to get a tester on it. I'll see if my friend at the part department can check the switch out.

Thank you.

There must be a way to test it because the dealer knew it was the switch and then ordered the part. On the other hand, maybe they just ruled out everything else.
