New MB Owner..Aux Input help

Helo to all:

I'm what you may call a newbie in the MB world. Just purchaesd my first MB 2007 E350. I think the car is just awsome. However, got a couple of questions....

#1 - Where is the aux input? On the command center is one of the option but I cannot find the input anywhere. If it helps the command center does have the NAV system (DVD).

#2 - It did not come with the phone cradle. Can I connect my phone via bluetooth and get the same functionality?

Thanks to all.

If the aux option is displayed on the command unit does that mean that you do have the ipod interface?

Not entirely.

To the OP, the aux input is in the glove compartment, you won't miss it now that you know what to look for. Also you'd need the bluetooth module to get you phone to work with your car.

There should be a jack plug in your glove box. Look towards the top center. The AUX is used when you plug the IPOD into that jack. I'm not sure about the "IPOD Interface" I couldn't justify the $800 to have the playlists/songs show up on the dashboard. With the standard jack, just use the IPOD.

If you want the phone/bluetooth cradle and interface, and the IPOD interface, be prepared to spend some bucks.

I love the IPOD interface though I'd now prefer the Command based interface which was not available with the 07.

What year is your car? Does it have Cassette or CD on the head unit? Also, the AUX input is a 1/8 stereo headphone jack (hole)... not a cord.

Thanks to all...still confused about the phone

Thanks to all. I was able to find the Aux input. As stated in the prvious thread, the input is in fact a 1/8 (I was expecting that) plug located towards the center, top lip, of the glove compartment. It has a little recess, about the width of a finger.

Regarding the phone....My car did not come with a cradle.....I assumed that Bluetooth was pretty much an standrd feature nowdays...especially on high end cars. Should I contact the dealership where I bought the car from.

If I need the bluetooth module...do you guys now how much does that run for?

Thanks

Thanks

I bought mine off fleabay. There are usually plenty for you to choose from.

Here's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...fAudioQ5fVideo

Basically, this widget slots in the center console, you pair the phone and presto you have bluetooth hands-free in your car. You can control via steering wheel and COMAND.

IMHO the specialized charging cradle is not worth it. You'd need a specific phone to work with it. True you get access to the car's antenna to boost signal but the cost and phone selection is limited. Best to stick with the MHI bluetooth module puck as discussed.

So there is no software upgrade, or programming necessary once buying the puck?

If your car is prewired its pure plug and play. You just have to pair the phone.

However, if you have no cradle now, the car is most likely not ready for the puck. Additional parts will be needed. Look for an eBay seller named cellguy85 - he can hook you up.

Yep; it's where I keep my change. I guess I'm going to need to find a new place for that.
