Torque strut arms?
My 2005 E320-CDI is at the dealer for a routine transmission oil/filter change. Dealer called to tell me that the boots around these torque strut arms are damage and need to be replaced... $1100. Whoa. But not knowing what these are. From a few online pics, it appears to be another arm just to the rear (at a 30 deg angle) of the lower control arms.
Can this be easily DIY?

They said the ball joints on both the Torque struts are worn to excess, my discs front are undercut and corroded Rear are corroded and front pads are 80% worn and my brake fluid is dirty. Also slight play in bottom ball joints and rear prop coupling starting to split. As well as telling me i probably need a new radiator and gearbox (which i very much doubt)
well i wont expose you to the cost they quoted as you can guess it was nearly as much as i ha just paid for the car lol
basically i have replaced the front discs and pads, in my eyes and my local mechanic the rears are fine. as i have limited spare cash and want to resolve the juddering as cheaply as possible can someone in the know suggest cheap ways round the work that i need. also any ideas as to whats causing the juddering?

the codes thrown up lead to other faults being shown and this can lead you astray
