REDUCED BRAKING POWER message
I just got the "REDUCED BRAKING POWER - DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL FULLY" message. Pulled over, turned the car off, got the "REDUCED BRAKING POWER START ENGINE" message. I started the car and haven't gotten the message since (only drove home, about 10 miles).
This is an '05 E320. Anyone get this message before? When it came on, I had to really push the brake pedal to the floor (as the message says), and the steering seemed like it had no power assist.
Thanks.

The message in not a good one. It means the SBC pump is having problems. The pump is covered under a 10 year unlimited mileage warranty. Definitely take it in to have them check. You have very limited braking when the pump is out. Not enough to stop the car under panic situations. I wouldn't drive it to the shop either, have it towed.

Ya, it's the pump. The dealer should replace it with no questions asked: 10 year / unlimited mileage warranty for the SBC pump. I just had mine replaced because it started making more noise than usual.

If the pump fails while you are driving, there will be virtually no Brakes. The car has a "back Up System" in case of pump failure, but you will most likely hit something. Have it replaced immediately.
