If you were to move from W211 (and MB) what car would you pick

Edit: Well realized I had less enthusiast words about it after scrolling up just now. I guess I finally got a good look at one in person, despite its slight anonymity, it looks pretty stunning in real life.

Ian Callum (sp) designed it, apparently he's done many Aston Martins, etc. as well, which is why the XF to me has a shape and beauty that kind of captures the aura of an Aston, which has my favourite current cars BTW.
It does look a bit anonymous and alike with some pretty bland and crappy cars in some pictures, but all in all, if you really can look and analyze the overall design of the car, it is pretty striking and separates itself from them a lot more in person IMO.

The current Aston Martins are gorgeous. By far my favorite line of cars right behind Ferrari.

Anyway, I just posted a comparo from Edmunds between the new E-Class, the 550 5 Series and the XF. It's both an article and video. Enjoy...

I'll check out that Link right now! Thanks for posting. I've read a bunch of earlier comparo's, some have had it in first, some had the W211 in first, and some the 5-Series, seems it's really closed the gap between it and the German benchmarks. Also supposed to be the best handling in its class, some say better than the 5-Series Sport. Either way I think it is all one hell of a testament to the car. It'll be a while before it sells as well as the E and 5, and gets the respect of the Germans as Jaguar has some 'splainin' to do about these prior years, but I think the XF is good enough to really make people almost forget about said years, lol.
+1 though on the AMs. Love, love, love the Vanquish and DBS. There are a couple here in my neighborhood and I drool everytime I see them. Lamborghini Reventon is stunning but to flashy for me, esp. as a DD. Obviously, those are not really comparable to the E's we all love.
If I left MB, I would most likely pick up an Audi RS5.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Sorry just a German car fan.

No need to apologize; we're all in that same club
e46 M3 6spd
06 A6 4.2
CLS 500/550 amg package
2nd generation G35/G37 6spd (something about those cars
Latest Cadillac Escalade (no need for all the room, just love the look)
S550
Range Rover (I know, I know, full of problems)
The new 2009 CTS-V with a manual tranny.
I'd throw on some long tube headers with a complete 3" exhaust and get a custom dyno tune and call it a day.

Of course I'd get it used and let the original buyer take the hit on the depreciation.

The other German makes are a step down from Mercedes-Benz. If I did not need 4 doors, I would look at the new SL, and want to go for another Ferrari - the 430 (and probably it's replacement) approach perfection in a sports car.
