Edit: Well realized I had less enthusiast words about it after scrolling up just now. I guess I finally got a good look at one in person, despite its slight anonymity, it looks pretty stunning in real life.
I think the XF and XK are gorgeous. High five to Jaguar with the designs on those two.

yeah, that XF has really been tempting me, you have no idea how many times I've looked at a picture of a 211 and it side by side to see which I like better.

Ian Callum (sp) designed it, apparently he's done many Aston Martins, etc. as well, which is why the XF to me has a shape and beauty that kind of captures the aura of an Aston, which has my favourite current cars BTW.

It does look a bit anonymous and alike with some pretty bland and crappy cars in some pictures, but all in all, if you really can look and analyze the overall design of the car, it is pretty striking and separates itself from them a lot more in person IMO.

Ya, it is a gorgeous vehicle, one of the best in its class, if not the best.

The current Aston Martins are gorgeous. By far my favorite line of cars right behind Ferrari.

Every since you guys started to talk about the XF I'm liking it more and more each time I check it out. Maybe I'm just following the "herd mentality"

Anyway, I just posted a comparo from Edmunds between the new E-Class, the 550 5 Series and the XF. It's both an article and video. Enjoy...

Dude, that's exactly what happened to me. When I first saw it I was like "nice step for Jaguar but it's aright". All of a sudden I'm just realizing that, wow, I think this is my favourite currently produced Mid-Size Sedan. I've even been following them on Autodrader.....

I'll check out that Link right now! Thanks for posting. I've read a bunch of earlier comparo's, some have had it in first, some had the W211 in first, and some the 5-Series, seems it's really closed the gap between it and the German benchmarks. Also supposed to be the best handling in its class, some say better than the 5-Series Sport. Either way I think it is all one hell of a testament to the car. It'll be a while before it sells as well as the E and 5, and gets the respect of the Germans as Jaguar has some 'splainin' to do about these prior years, but I think the XF is good enough to really make people almost forget about said years, lol.

I guess I will be the dissenter here and state that I am not a fan of Jaguar's current lineup.

+1 though on the AMs. Love, love, love the Vanquish and DBS. There are a couple here in my neighborhood and I drool everytime I see them. Lamborghini Reventon is stunning but to flashy for me, esp. as a DD. Obviously, those are not really comparable to the E's we all love.

If I left MB, I would most likely pick up an Audi RS5.

Moving in a reasonably horizontal fashion I would probably buy a used 6 series. Not a big fan of the BMW interior but they pulled the 6 series off, plus the outside isn't extremely boring but not completely ostentatious, also fast.

Sorry just a German car fan.

I used to like the 6 until I actually drove it. I felt like I was maneuvering in a yacht on the highway but with the top down and just cruising it's a fine piece of machinery. The interior is very bland and looks like a 3 or 5 series. The thing that struck me unusual was their cup holders. You actually store it in the glove box and take it out when you need it. It fits next to the shifter. After you are done with it you stow it away again. For a car in that price range I think it's a bit gimmicky. And I just wish it didn't have that "Bangle-butt". The front of the car does look good through; it reminds me of a shark. If I ever have one it's going to be grey with the license place "LAND SHARK"

This is true BMW don't tend to focus on this aspect of their cars much, anyone who thinks the 7 series is comparable to the S in terms of interior I personally think is off with the fairies lol

Of course I'd get it used and let the original buyer take the hit on the depreciation.
Agree with everything above, but with an automatic trans,,,,,,and a smaller pulley!

Ya, the front is the best thing about the car. It looks slick, but ya, the inside is like a 3 series. The 3, 5, and 6 all pretty much have the same interior and layout. Only the 7 is a change. Would take a CL any day over a 6. Even so, both cars are too large for my taste, at this age at least. Something my dad would drive. Would take a 335 coupe, fully loaded, and drop some nice performance mods instead.

my wife wild, but she loves every minute of it.
I would give an S-Class serious consideration - as I did when I bought this E. Before the E, I had an ML, and before that, a string of S-Class. When I was getting out of the last S-Class, I gave some serious consideration to a Bentley. I also note there are bargains to be had on the discontinued in the USA VW Phaeton.

The other German makes are a step down from Mercedes-Benz. If I did not need 4 doors, I would look at the new SL, and want to go for another Ferrari - the 430 (and probably it's replacement) approach perfection in a sports car.
