Impossible - AutoSpies says new E55 same price as old...
AutoSpies says MSRP of the new E55 will be the same as the old - how in the WORLD is this possible, since the E-class in its entirety is noticeably higher than the prior model. PLUS, if you option out an E500, you get close to the MSRP of the old E55 of 72k, in fact, within about 8k - so that means that with 500hp and all the AMG fixins, you only have to pay an extra 8k? Ya right.

I believe the base price of the new E55 could be close to the price of the old since reports also indicate the list of options for the new E55 is now quite long. In the past the E55 had all available options included as standard, except for the phone and navagation. If MB does not include the options as standard, we all know it is not hard to add $10,000 in options to the base price. As a result, I believe a nicely equiped E55 will cost at least $80,000. In my book, that's a lot of money for an E Class.

I read a road test in this months Car and Driver, and it said that the E55 starts at $74k. Not a bad price, if this is true. They also had a great looking picture of one absolutely shredding the Continental tires. It's kind of a sleeper from the outside, as it doesn't look a lot different than an E500.

Car and Driver said that at $75K the E55 is a real "bargain", believe it or not.
M-B couldn't include all the E-class options on the E55 or it would be pushing $90K

I think that this is a smart way to go. It allows you to go Ultra-luxury if you choose or stick with the "stripper".

I am not surprised. Economy is doing bad and they need to sell cars. I expected a little price drop. Anyway, E55 is 4% cheaper that previous due inflation. I think that it's the time to upgrade car.
