I wouldn't think the temperature would make any difference. As far as I know we have the same drivetrain. I'm on factory 17's I don't know if you are running 18's and if at the ground the diameter is any different.
As far as I know my lock up converter is locking up. What are you running at 60 mph. Thats about where I am running 2K.

It was interesting I drove a new A4 today with the 2.0T and that ran lower rpms than my E350. Like less than 2k at 60. It seemed to run at speed more easily too. It was much easier to cruise at 70. 29 MPG to boot but it isn't as nice of a car as the E. Not bad all in all probably better car than the C Class.

Just took a 3 hour trip from Maryland to Jersey for the MBWorld fishing trip. Here's what I ended with:
After 1 hour:

And then after a couple pee breaks and 4 toll booths:

Notice the tach at 70MPH.....1950 RPMs.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
And guys, this was on my 19" boat anchors.

2010 E350 4Matic
Last summer I rented an A4 while I was down in the Keys and I was very impressed. I drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami to Key West back to Miami on one tank of gas. It was about a 350 mile trip but that car has a smaller tank then the E class. The highway I was going 85-90 but when passing through the yeys at 40mph the transmission kept itself in 6th gear and I was doing around 1,100rpm. I thought it was a fantastic little car. It also had the 3.2 engine and not the 2.0.

MPG with a E320 CDI
I have a 2005 E320 CDI. The tires are filled with nitrogen and are at 35 pounds all around. The “after reset” shows the overall mileage of 17,134 (actually have 37000 miles on the car) for a average of 23 mph with 25.3 mpg. I keep the car in “C” most of the time only going to “S” when I know I will need a speedier start.
Yesterday I drove 54 miles on the county/city roads that have a 40 to 45 mph speed limit with traffic lights and got 27.2 mpg. I drive 90% on county/city, 10% on the hwy. When I get on the hwy I consistently get 30 + mpg for a 35 mile trip to the airport (living in FL I get to pick up the relatives quit often). The highest mpg that I can remember is 37+ mpg for a 120 mile hwy only trip.

When my wife realized that there is "S" mode, she doesn't want back to "C". Previously she drove E430 and after had many compliance how E350 is underpowered. Perhaps she drives too aggressive, MPG is just 18.5.
