Problem was right front wheel bearing. Swapped it out this weekend and it still looked rather good for 82K miles. There was only a tiny bit of scoring, but I'm glad it's all over with. I've been driving with this noise for 35K miles. Of course the dealer was "unable to reproduce" when it was under warranty.
