cdi engine air intake filter change
The engine cover on the e320 is in two parts. Remove the front part by tilting up and pulling it up and forward. Remove the large piece over the intake manifold by pulling it up at the corners and it will pull free from the clips. When you look at the snorkel, you will see that the central portion of the tube is corrugated. This is so you can compress it, and slide it off the engine cover. You then slide the snorkel off its attachment at the front of the engine bay. Flip over the cover and there are four Torx T-25 screws holding each of the two air filters inside their respective housings.
Filter element part #1120940604 (for comparison pricing parts.com $33.35)
Cabin filter:
For standard two-zone you will need to replace the dust filter located in the engine compartment https://mbworld.org/forums/3365119-post2.html, optional four-zone replace the two interior carbon filters located under glove box - PM email address and I will forward instruction sheets.
Dust (combination) filter part 2118300018 ($20.12)
Activated charcoal filter 2118300818 ($77.05)

The dealership said they did one or the other and not both.
I went with just the flush because i need to take it on a trip on monday but i'm wondering if i should have got the filter changed too? Any help is greatly appriciated.
I'm considering having the plugs changed too but, i'm getting 27-30 on the highway so they may be fine...but wanted reccomdation on plugs types too...sorry for the long list.

It does not list transmission service however, if you view 05-08 you will see MB revised requirement to ATF/filter change @ 39000, view 09 and you will see it was revised again to every 40000 miles. Although 09 recommendation is for 7-speed, it is my opinion that ATF/filter should be changed every 40000 miles whether it be a 5-speed (722.6 which you have) or 7-speed. So to answer your question, since you do not know when or if the ATF was previously changed, both the ATF and filter should have been replaced.
In accordance to maintenance sheet, spark plugs require replacement every 100000 miles or four years therefore I recommend replacement https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...lugs-guys.html

I also have a 1989 190e and wondered if it had and cabin flters or dust filters on it. I havent had any luck finding info on that.
Also, when i turn on the ac it seems to smell a little like anti freeze or something faintly funny. Not too bothersome but wondered if it was a sign of something.
It has 128,000 and runs pretty well.
thanks,
mike
