A new member in the forum !!!

Hello to all of you.

I've spent a few days reading posts in this forum. finally I decided to register. You´ll have to forgive my poor english, because it´s not my natal language.

I ordered a W211 E 320 CDI about October 2002 to be delivered next April. It will be my first MB, and also my first auto transmission.

I am dissapointed whith the problems that i read in the forum, maybe it´s not as good (The W211) as I supossed or as everybody thinks here in Spain?

Hope most of these failures are corrected when mine be built.

WTTC (welcome to the club) Juanjoand Jbec.keane! Don't worry about your E320 CDI and enjoy your ride when it comes.

Your warranty should take care of any problems. The complaints post are only a small percentage of the W211 owners out there.

I too have just registered. Also, excuse my english (even though it is my first language).

I ordered a 2003 E320 (Pewter/Charcoal, E2, E5, CD Changer) on Saturday. According to the salesman (Millenium in NJ), it was being built and I should receive it in April.

This will be my first Mercedes having driven Nissan 300ZXs (82, 87, 92) and an Acura TL (99). I'm giving the TL to my 17 year old son so that I can get a new car.

Actually, my only concern is how it will handle in the snow (looking out the window at snow covered ground). I have a long commute (60 miles each way). Although I suppose if I could do the drive in a 300ZX, I can do the drive in an E320.

Welcome Juanjo and jbec.keane!

Many of us haven't had any problems at all (but I've only had my car a week and a half), but Mercedes service is fabulous if you do have something come up. I know you'll love your car!

Welcome juanjo and jbec.keane to the W211 forum. You will love your new Es and probably have far fewer problems with your cars than those who bought right at the first.

My E500 was made on about September 20, 2002, delivered on October 21, 2002 and I have yet to experience any serious problems. I actually have not yet taken the car in for any service issues with about 2500 miles on it and almost 4 months of ownership.

Pictures and stories are always welcome here!!!

If you could drive the 300ZX in the snow, I'd say you'd be just fine driving the E320 in the snow! ESP takes the challenge out of snow driving, though if you're going uphill, some times, you'll have to shut off ESP to slip-and-slide your way up. Having learned how to drive on a rear-drive car with no traction control/ABS, I know a thing or two about how RWD cars tend to "swap ends" even while going straight in the snow if you're not judicious about your use of the accelerator. ESP does a great job of being judicious for 'ya, so you don't have to worry about that. In fact, for me anyway, if I'm trying to get from point A to point B, I leave ESP on, but if I'm in the mood for some fun driving, I shut it off. Even then, ESP comes back on if you start doing really stupid things, but oh well.

New Jersey/New York has had some snow to accompany the freezing temperatures. It has been a number of years since I have driven a rear wheel drive car in the snow, but I must say that the E handles very well with just a dab of common sense. I have used the Winter selection as well, but the only difference that I notice is that it easier to start rolling without spinning.

Enjoy the ride!

I just got a call from my salesman. They found the car I was waiting for at the port. I don't have to wait for a car to be built. I should have my new E320 by the end of next week.

I was kind of hoping my E320 wouldn't come in until April so that the snow season would be over, but now I can't wait.

Angry

It´s been four months waiting, and at least two more. Can´t wait no more.

The dealer let me a E270 CDI for a whole weekend to test it. It was a great car, rides very smooth. You see, compared with the cars i drive now the MB is in other dimension.

The mpg that MB states for the 320 CDI is similar to that of my actual car, but now I have only 105 diesel hp on that Rover.

How do I translate from liter/100KM to the mpg? I know a mile is about 1.6 km, but how many liters is a gallon?.

Here in Spain the E 320 CDI is cheaper than the E 320 gasoline. The top speed and 0-100 time are the same for both, so the diesel is the choice I made.

Keep waiting for April to come.

Thanks pocholin.

So my actual car states 52 mpg. The 320 CDI states for 40 mpg.

In real life i get 42 mpg, so I suposse the MB will be over 32 mpg

Time will tell.
