Air sonditioner smell
My 2006 e500 emits a strong, acrid, perhaps musty, smell, quite irritating to the nose, from the air conditioner when on an extended drive. It only evidences itself when decelerating just slightly at higher speeds, e.g. 60mph and above and only when the car has been driven for quite a few miles. The dealer says he could not replicate the last two or three times I have complained. Warranty will expire soon. Any ideas. Thanks.

You have a bit of mold somewhere in the aircon ducting.
You can buy products that are made specifically to resolve this issue, but change out the cabin air filter before you spray that stuff into your system...

On a trip to PA in one of my friend's van there was a smell that seemed to follow us all the way from NJ to PA. We would smell it more at various speeds and when the AC was on. When we finally got there, the next morning there were flys swarming all over the hood.. We opened it up and there was a dead cat that was like sleeping on the engine. Not a pretty sight.

Mention DTB S-B-83.30/74o dealer should clean the evaporator and interior, and change out filter under warranty especially if you have invoice copies that document multiple complaints for this problem if you want a copy of the DTB, PM your email address.
