1) 2009 E320 Bluetec 2) 67833 miles 3) DPF melted, air intake manifold actuator CEL, car in limp mode, towed to shop, quoted price of up tp $6k to repair!!!
I'll mask the shop name for now as I think they're pretty reputable in business since the 80's as a local German MB and BMW used car dealer and service in Duluth, GA. I'll PM you if you like.
They told me due to high temperature of up to 2000 degree the PDF is melted not recoverable, the heat is from a wide open air intake manifold due to failure of the actuator or adjuster motor.
The quote covers PDF, Oxygen sensor (melted as well?), and adjuster motor (I think it's the Actuator for the air intake manifold). They'are not sure about if the air intake manifold is good or not, if it is not, then there will be another $1.3k to $2k.
1. 2009 E350 Amg Package
2. 118k Miles
3. Rear whining noise from something undiscovered yet changed wheel bearings but no luck.
When I purchased the car early 2018 it had 94k miles on it and had a clean cracked front splitter. I decided rather than replace and break it on something again because it's far too low I made a metal skid plate instead and its saved me quite a few times already. (Pictured below)
I had a blowout after a huge pothole appeared from under a car in-front and destroyed the front left tire, the tow truck then crushed the front end so I had to completely peice back the bottom part of the splitter and make repairs, that's when we did the skid plate, resprayed and reattached the lower mesh "grill" all the plastic clamps holding it in place broke from the tow truck but it came out pretty nicely in the end I think.

Help!
It's a diesel they are supposed to have a wide open intake. They don't change power by restricting air like a gas engine. Are they a diesel regulator shop? Not just a MB BMW shop?
I guess you are right, they later admitted the cause is not due to failed adjuster or actuator that controls the flaps for air intake. Right now it's just something happened to cause an unrecoverable DPF damage, maybe local short trips in the past 2-3 months? I can't believe if that alone being the reason to destroy the DPF.
Anyone know a good place to source the DPF and oxygen sensor? Thanks guys.
1) 2009 e550 4matic AMG Sport package 2) 133k 3) Replaced the following since I took ownership at 67k miles: Brakes all around (pads and rotors) Upper control arms and lower ball joints Front CV axles
Front wheel bearings (they were not bad, did them as a precaution with everything else in the front end)
Front sway bar end links Inner and outer tie rod ends Airmatic struts and rear bags, as well as pump and relay
Drivers side front and rear door handles (three times for failed lock/unlock feature)
Thermostat
Heater control valve
Oil filter housing gasket
And then regular service items (transmission, transfer case, rear differential fluids)
By far my favorite car that I have owned to date. Absolutely love this car. Still enjoy it every single time I get into it. Longest I have ever owned a vehicle and plan to keep it for quite a few more years.

06 E320 CDI, 276,000 miles. Best car I have ever owned. Other than routine maintenance I have rebuilt the front end, had two broken exhaust manifold studs, thermostat, one injector seal, engine mounts and a control valve go out of the AC compressor. I drive it like I stole it, get 35 mpg and runs just as strong as the day I bought it.
touche to that man, i have a 2006 CDI as well, just about to hit 195k. Runs strong, just need to refurbish some of the interior parts (center console) haha
2005 E320 CDI with 145,000 miles. Runs beautifully. Only thing I had to do was the #6 glow plug, so I went ahead and did 'em all.
Just did the coolant flush as well, since the car is now coming up on 15 years old.
The thing sounds like a John Deere. It pulls like a freight train. It gets, real-world, 25 mpg straight city, 39 mpg straight highway, and about 27-28 mpg in my daily commute. For perspective, that's about what a Honda Civic gets (we currently have three Civics, so we know), and the CDI is a nearly two-ton car.
Mileage 138,000 . Purchased it with 102,000 miles on it for $10,500 Looks and runs like new.
Zero problems until today. Remote Key entry not working on original Fob. Changed batteries and cured problem for 24 hours. Same problem now back again.
Used spare key fob and luckily this worked. but noticed today that spare having similar problems. Not battery related so think it must be a control module although I have no clue which is the correct module. Any help appreciuated.
Bought this used in 2003 with 40k miles on it. Finally let it go with over 250k miles. Lots of replacement parts, Rear shocks, A/.C compressor, Steering pump, Alternator. Nothing major and almost all replaced by me.
Finally it would not pass smog check, ports in cylinder head blocked with carbon. Reluctant to let go but would have cost too musc to fix
2008 E350 4-matic
136400 miles
Bought the car with 87k, changed plugs. Since then, pads all around + front rotors and just put tires/alignment. Other than that, no issues.
Very reliable but front ball joints started squeaking and steering deteriorated. I think I'd recommend replacing front ball joints at 200k miles.
I replaced all four lower control arms but still it squeaked so I replaced the spring control arm ball joints. Some say it's easy but I found it difficult to remove and install them. Very tight. Now it drives great again.
257,000 Miles. No problems with Engine, Transmission or Drive train.
Replaced Alternator. A/C Compressor, Hydraulic Oil pump, Rear suspension reservoirs.
Roof rusted out at Sunroof,
Finally sold as Inlet ports clogged with carbon and wouldn,t pass smog test.
Replaced withh 2009 E350 Wagon with 98,000 miles. So far 141,00 mile .only problem 2 rear air springs leaked and had to be replaced.
just now, Comand system failed with no sound
