How many miles on your W211?
130,000 Miles
only issue is the owner before me decided to straight pipe it by removing the mufflers but now I hear the rattle of two pipes every time I idle. Thought it was something way worse but looking into ways to fix it so the pipe is in the secure. Other than that no issues mechanically…cosmetically however…she’s see seen better days but I hope to restore it a bit

138K
Owned less than a week, with a little digging I can find extensive previous work, in the last few years nothing major, two front wheel bearings and maintenance.
Cosmetically it's very nice in and out, the engine seems to run well and is running better after some "Italian Tuneup" type driving, it was driven almost exclusively on parkways
and freeways to work and back by an older Australian gent who retired and moved back. I never saw him drive but can sense from his dress and manner that the care was driven
very carefully, to the point that a few hard accelerations and letting it wind up through the gears and it seems to have smoothed out a little and gotten more responsive.
Mechanically, the front brakes have life in them, there is a pretty good lip on the rotor and they just don't feel that great, so redoing all corners and a flush is high up the list, right after
changing all the drivetrain fluids. It's a nice car, I was shopping in a much higher price range than the $5700 I paid, that leaves me a lot of room for parts and maintenance.

219000 miles 2nd owner had since 203,000 miles.
New ECU, EGR, Radiator, Brakes, SBC (under warranty $0 yay), tires, mounts, replaced injector seals #2 had started black death, oil, filters etc...
I love this car!!
Small problem now it is slow to crank overnight unless I prime it to start first. Fuel pump in tank is a little weak. Anyone just replaced the motor in the sending unit?

186,648 Miles, I am the third owner
P2006 Intake runner code, previously, the front left axle boot tore, the sunroof binding recall, and now the SOS system speaker is buzzing and I have an SOS malfunction notice
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Alternator, Conductor plate, serpentine belt, Front right airmatic strut, Battery, have all been replaced in my ownership. $4000 in repairs alone spent on this car since I bought it 30k miles ago. Daily driven every day 20 miles to and from work. Its broken down but It’s never left me stranded. Except when my alternator and voltage regulator both decided to die and I was stuck at work until 1am waiting for a tow truck… luckily this didn’t happen on the road. I love this car

Badass looking E550 you got there. I have a black 2007 E550 as well with mufflers and resonator delete.
2) 247,700
3) currently redoing valve cover seals - I don’t consider this a mechanical problem; expected maintenance for age

replaced Bosch HP pump last year($800 reman) and ECU had to go out for repair in 2023($500)
Amazingly those are only major items, replaced water pump once, still on orig alternator and starter.
engine mounts about every 100k and took out and reseated injectors last year. Replaced 2 that were borderline(bought in Germany for about $150 each)
Believe I ve done all front suspension parts, some twice. Except 4 shocks still original.
EGR delete long ago Love this car, has very rare option combo of Bi-Xenon curve following lights and factory Bluetooth.

There really are 300,000 mikes on original paint
engine and transmission replacement, injector replacement, swirl flaps, etc.
still averages 34mpg
love it.
The original was starting to use a bit of oil and the injectors and glow plugs were getting increasingly hard to deal with on occasion.
I looked at having it rebuilt and while searching around I came across an om648 engine and transmission with 80k original miles from a wrecked w211 near Atlanta.
so I drove down and picked it up and took my time replacing the engine mounts, a new alternator, a larger intercooler, rebuilt the turbo, etc.
It took some time and a few $$ but to me it was worth it at 248,000 to have it running practically like new and no clouds of black smoke when I hit the accelerator on occasion. Not to mention no leaking oil spots or seeping or weeping on my driveway.
I had the space and the tools so it was more of a choice for me.
I am sure it would have chugged along for many more miles in its original configuration.

At 265,000 miles, I’ve replaced a dozen glow plugs over the years and even did the Black Death cleaning and clearing without too much difficulty. Probably a million other things but I do it all on my own. The dealer did replace the EBC unit (which one that makes squishing sounds). Tranny, diff, intake, turbo, and axles all are original and look good, (knock on wood).
I don’t know what my oil consumption is as I never add oil between 12,000 mile changes. It doesn’t leak anything on the floor. It does smoke when I floor it but I think that is an inherently pre-DEF thing.
