03 E320 Factory Radio Intermittently "Reboots" - Help, how do I fix?
The factory audio/cd/comand system in our 03 e320 has started to have an intermittent problem. My wife swears that it only happens when I am with her in the car and not when she is driving by herself.
Regardless, the audio system will all of a sudden just shut off and go black, then after a second or so, displays Mercedes-Benz and always goes to the in-dash CD and plays track 1. This happens whether we are listening to the radio or a CD. We have both an in-dash single CD (CD 0) and an in-dash 6 CD changer.
I have no idea why it does this and I wanted to see if anyone else has run into this, is it a loose wire or connection, any ideas? How can I fix it myself?
I would appreciate any guidance and help that anyone can provide.
Thanks!
Bob

.... nothing to brag about, it is a previous model....
1. Master reset your cluster. (yes, you will have to reset your time and etc )
2. Remove key and go to trunk fuse box.
3. unplug fuse ( can't remember which number for AGW ) for 2 min.
4. Plug the fuse back in.
5. start your car.
If problem exist again, get the firmware update from Mercedes.

For those under warranty, mention DTB P-B-82.60/382c to solve “intermittent” malfunctions.
Out of warranty DIY - purchase service update disc/special tool 211589162200 MSRP $12, dealer or online:
- Power up headunit, select radio (make sure CD player is empty)
- Press and release key combination 1, 3, and 8 simultaneously
- When prompted, insert service disc
- Wait until headunit detects disc, id prompted to accept update press “OK” hardkey
- When update is complete, the headunit will eject disc remove wait, as the headunit will automatically reboot
For MY08 & 09 owners, mention DTB S-B-82.60/640a depending on installed SDARS receiver “Generation” type this same disc will update headunit to allow subscription for additional SIRIUS XM channels.

My solution:
I own an '03 E320 which just started having these same electrical issues. After further research I found a solution: I found an exact replacement 2nd battery made by Interstate. It cost me just under $100 installed (under the hood) and fixed all of my electrical issues coming through my radio/control center.
This thread helped me a ton!
