w211 wheel weights?
Want to replace the stock 16's on the CDI with a different style or maybe go up to 17's. Looking to continue with narrower (225-235mm) tires and keep unsprung weight down.
Anybody know where I might be able to find the weights of the different OEM MB wheels?

Hmm I couldn't imagine jumping to 17s would be vastly different from the 16s but I am not an expert.
OEM wheels tend to be very light weight in comparison to replicas so I couldn't imagine it would be that big a concern for you.
Sorry I could not be of further assistance.

Problem is...some oem wheels weigh ALOT more than others. I have read on this forum that the 17" fat-five spoke w211 wheels only weigh 19.5lbs, which I have a hard time believing. Any of the 18" cast wheels (amg or not) appear to weigh significantly more (>25lbs). In a car that gets just great mileage (>35mpg combined), I would feel like an *** if I installed heavier wheels/tires that tend to have a rather large adverse affect on fuel economy.
I was seriously considering purchasing a set of forged 16" w211 wheels from Germany (same somewhat-Jeepish style polished wheels that came on CLK 320, but with larger bolt holes for w211 hubs), but they are just too ugly for our designo e320 cdi. I would definitely consider 17" wheels, like the early e500 wheels, fat five from an e500/e320/e350 app pkg, split 5-spoke from later e350/e500, or 7 spoke on later e350/e320 btc...just need find the weight of these wheels before making a decision.

I've got a 2005 CDI and had addressed this exact situation to reduce wheel weight, for acceleration and efficiency. All cast wheels will be heavier and going to +1 or +2 wheels, will also be heavier. The only way to increase wheel diameter without the weight gain, gotta go to forged wheels. Here's what I know of;
OEM 16" = 23 lbs.
Fat fives 18" = 26 lbs
HRE 18" forged = 23 lbs
OEM 16" = 23 lbs.

HRE 18" forged = 23 lbs

The 10 spoke 18" wheels weigh a lot. I have also heard that the 17" fat five (such as the ones I have), do not weigh that much. There was a post about another forum member with an 06 E500 switching from the 10 spoke staggered 18" wheels to the 17" fat five wheels.

The oem 16's weigh 23 lbs? That's a few pounds heavier than I expected. A sub-20lb 17" wheel with 225mm tire would be ideal
Can anybody with the fat-five 17" wheels weigh a single wheel and post?

I confirm 16" OEMs weigh 23lbs; I weighed them. My tires weigh 25lb therefore a combined weight of 48lbs. I looked at the HRE18 and calculated an investment of around $8,000 is required to include tires while maintaining an overall weight of 48lbs.
