Loud Wipers????
Does anyone else find their wipers on the e500/sport to be extremly loud- even when their is plenty of ater on the windshield?
Not the motor- but the "drag" over the glass?
and did anyone figure out a way to correct this?

I drove over 100 miles in the rain last weekend. My wipers were very loud...same problem - noise dragging over the windshield.
Hopefully someone will have an answer to provide relief from the annoyance.

Same here. Complained to the dealer and he just 'polished' the but the noise is still there. I am asking that he change the wipers in my next visit. It is quiet on the first two sweeps but gets very noisy, skidding, jummping over the glass after that.

Solved for me
Mine did same but after dealer repalced blades twice, all OK. Hard dubber used as standard amd that is too noisy (but lasts longer perhaps)/

I have driven my car for 4500 miles and complained about the noisy wipers from Day 1. See earlier posts.
Yesterday they were replaced by the dealer - AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!
Simply get them changed - there's no design fault - mine are now blissfully quiet...............

It could be the wiper arm needs replacing...needs more pressure against glass in that area???

Anyone else driven an E320/E500 in Canada on salty roads where you need to spray to keep your window clean? Was your experience the same?

Aiming the water jets
I read an earlier post where someone mentioned
using a toothpick to aim the jets.
A sewing needle might also work well.

Aiming the jets
If I aim the jets elsewhere, some other area will beleft wiping dry. It's the entire design of jets/wipers/windscreen, I think. Only obvious when the roads are salty or very dirty and you need to spray to keep them clean.

Yes, I've notcied that too
We have regular snow and salt here in Chicago, and I have noticed this as well. I don't think we have it quite as severly though as you might in Canada. For what we get down here, the coverage seems adequate with the four nozzles distributing the spray.
Right after it snows though, the stuff that other cars kick up from the road keeps the windshield covered and forces you to frequently respray/wipe the windshield.
My only other remedy is to avoid following too closely.

I have this problem with keeping the windshield clean, as well. And yes, my wipers are dreadfully loud. I have to keep spraying to get my windshield clean, but at times when it is not raining hard enough, I get this ugly half-circle of lines, that seems to freeze on the glass. I live in DC, and I know it is not because it is too cold. Besides, it only exists on the driver's side of the windshield.

You too eh
Yes, so this seems another little design anomaly. Well, it's one I can live with, though if anyone (or MB!) solves it, let me know.

Car was available from factory in mid-November with a distinct diesel sound from the engine while accelerating below 3500 RPM which is specifically addressed by an M-B service bulletin.
Wipers were rubbing hard on the driver's side at the top of the stroke; just the blades were replaced to by knowledge to correct this problem.
