Glass Chip

I unfortunately had a pebble hit my windshield the other day and it left a little hole in the windshield, sort of like a beebee bullet. The hole didn't penetrate all the way through the windshield. I was wondering if any of you have had this type of damage done to your car and whether or not you had to replace the enitre windshield. I was told that it was repairable without replacing the windshield.

Try the fill type repair as soon as you can before it cracks. If you do not like it- then replace. If you wait- chances are it will crack

It can be repaired but will still look bad

A repair can be done to keep it from spreading, but it will still be visible.

Check your comprehensive deductible for how much you'd have to pay if you replaced the windshield.

I would just try the repair. Unless it is right in front of your eyes you will not see it. Saves a lot of money and I;ve had it done before and was very happy with it.

I had to repair a crack on my windshield a few weeks ago. It was barely visible after the repair. Depending on your state and insurance company, it is probably covered by insurance for free.

I also had a larger crack repaired on a range rover. Some repair places will fix the larger ones and some won't so you may need to shop around.

As an important side note, I was in a car with a cracked windshield a few days ago.... if you put you finger on the crack line, the crack gets longer and longer. Only try this if it is beyond repair (or a rental car).

HI - small cracks in windscreens are easily repairable - I've had to do that plenty of time in my cars in Australia. See for example - http://www.windscreensobrien.com.au/ - in the meantime, you should put a plastic adhesive (such as sticky-tape) on the crack to stop the crack from spreading.
