i know and i remember reading that command is able to be updated on the 05+ and up and only euro models to enable mp3 and dvd on it, but i was wondering is it possible on my car? all i really want is the mp3 if it's possible (any hacks for our systems too... are we able to change the wallpapers or fool around with our system's gui?)

Yes, it does play mp3 on DVD on my 04.
Get into engineering menu and change to W211 ECE.
Try search "comand", you should find detail info on getting into it.

i had done so in the past, but when i went to service about a month ago they updated the system (i know this because a. no more mp3 and b. i can't type in the navi info while driving... ITS SO ANNOYING) anyway so now i cant go into the secret menu stated by the forums perhaps the update is waht is ont he facelifted w211's and you can not enter the secret menu on them any longer? anyone know of this?

download comand update cd iso from torrent sources on the web. Update your COMAND - I think all you have to do is remove cd from top, press 1+8+3 a the same time and COMAND says "insert update CD" takes about 15 mins to update and voila you have mp3. My 04 did not have mp3 playback and I updated it myself.

Not sure on 1+3+8 part - someone please correct the number sequence. but if you google "updating comand" you will get it.

Go buy the service disk, I think I paid $11.00 at the dealer. Follow the instructions that come with the disk to update your COMAND. I now enjoy .mp3 playback on DVD.

You guys mean DVD on the trunk ? are the one in the dash only CD not DVD ?

No sir. The single slot on the COMAND. Some of them have a DVD rom drive that is able to play mp3 on DVD. Before you get excited, they can't play DVD movies as they lack the video processor. You must get the Euro COMAND if you want to watch movies on it.

you don't have to change the whole unit, just change settings from us to euro and you'll get dvd instead of sat radio. i did it and can play movies in us command

If you press audio and mp3 is not lsited as an option, insert a cd or DVD with mp3s into the single slot on top of COMAND. if you still don't get mp3 as an option when you press AUDIO, then all you need is a COMAND update CD. it usually cost $12-$29 from dealer. once updated, you will have p3 capability. Its been ther esince 2003 MY in the US. every single W211 in US Spec can play mp3. up until 04 you had to update comand. from 2005 onwards, the update comes pre-installed.

only what mobinakhtar said works with the dvd slot on the top (and even then ive heard some ppl yet have problems depending on the update...) like he said you or that stuff b.c. video is impossible unless and it is very unlikely your car is from europe and it was swapped to american settings and you were able to go back which i highly doubt

That was a MAP update for the NAV. Even that is a couple of revs old now.
