E500 in shop, SL65 AMG loaner...!
So my E500 was in the shop Wednesday evening/Thursday morning for a new windshield and I worked a deal to drive a used '06 SL65 AMG... I had been telling myself that my E500's power was adequate and have learned to live with it I guess... Driving the SL65 was an eye opener for sure... What an engine in that monster...! Day 1 I pretty much just cruised home in rush hour traffic and didn't get much of a chance to 'open er up'... Thursday however, I managed to get it out and run it on backroads with no traffic whatsoever... Wow, what a machine... Dropped the top, turned off ESP and let 'er rip a little... That automatic roll bar option is a nice feature...!
It takes a little work to get used to the power band but once you figure it out, it's a blast to drift this car in corners, and any throttle input results in an instant rush that's "so missing" from my E500... Reminds me of the rush I used to get in the C5 Z06... My E500 is now painfully inadequate unfortunately...

All I ever get is a damn C200K with no options.
If they want people to upgrade, try some better marketing. Lexus gives you whatever car you want.

+1.....If they want me to buy an S-class, let me drive the car for more than 15 minutes. That would sell a lot of people really fast!

I remember I was at the dealer the past time getting some things done. While waiting an 07 S600 came in. The other S/A said "damn it's the 4th time this car has come back. It has sold 4 times and it keeps coming back" to one of the salesman. So I told them, "why don't you guys give me that as a loaner and I'll think about it?" They laughed and that was that
Bet they still have the damn car too.

Fortunately my BMW never needs a service, otherwise I should drive Camry. Returning to topic. I think you should trade E500 for SL65 as only you get her off service.

Just for clarity, I worked the SL65 AMG loaner with my Salesman, whom I've bought 4 MB's from and who knows I'm a driving enthusiast... I told him that if there was an SL55 or SL65 on the lot when my E500 went in for the windshield replacement, I'd like to drive it for a day or so... He was more than gracious enough to let me take the car home and drive it for 2 days... Otherwise, the service department probably would have hooked me up with a typical service loaner, a C300... I'm now looking for an SL55, SL600 or SL65 to add to the fleet...
And because my wife works for the Dealer in Finance, I'm in there 3 to 4 days a week so they know me fairly well...
