Mercedes-Benz 2009 E-Class Pricing: E350 for $35.5K, E550 for $51K, E63 AMG for $67K
I don't know if this is against forum rules or not. To tell you the truth, I wasn't even going to post this thread. But since my friend told me that a "rival" MB forum already published a link to this thread, I don't want them to have an "unfair" advantage over MBWorld.org:
"Mercedes-Benz 2009 E-Classes HUGE DISCOUNTS: E350 for $35.5K, E550 for $51K, E63 AMG for $67K (YMMV depending on the dealer)"
Most of the pricing data came from MBWorld.org (thanks to various posters reporting how much they were quoted/purchased their vehicles for), Edmunds.com, and a few local dealers.
However, included in the thread are ADDITIONAL WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON YOUR MB PURCHASE (like using your SAKSFIRST CREDIT CARD, and if you're a USAA MEMBER), so it might be a valuable read for some people planning to purchase a new 2009 E-Class soon.
At any rate, read... enjoy... and if it's against forum rules to post this link, then someone let me know BEFORE BANNING ME! Thank you!

Because of the "perfect storm" made by the following combined factors:
1) Demand for luxury cars declined significantly due to the world financial crisis (especially in the U.S.),
2) MB just happened to schedule the discontinuation of the W211 E-Class this year,
3) The 2010 E-Classes are already on the lots and being sold (adding to the dealer's sense of urgency to get the 2009's off their lots quickly),
4) The overstock of 2009 E-Classes (and other MB models) was way too much (MBUSA and dealerships across the country had to lease extra space at the ports and other locations in order to store all the excess inventory),
5) Stiff competition from other auto manufacturers (such as BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc) desperately seeking customers as they discounted/dropped their prices and/or increased incentives to help fuel sales.
There could be more factors that influenced the price... but those are the major ones I could think of right now...

Same thing happened when BMW brought out the E90...
...sedan to replace the E46 a few years back. You could pick up a new E46, with the huge incentives, for less than used ones a year or two old were going for. I peaked early and bought a two year old used zhp for about $3,000 less than a brand new one would have cost. And that was with a good economy.
This year Comrade Obama will even give you $4500 more with the right trade in.
Sigh.

MBWorld Fanatic!
wow, i paid $35k for my 06 E500 4matic w/27k miles last Nov 08. At the time, same pricing for E350s but went for the bigger engine and since they were not a dime a dozen like E350s that were on the market.

Yup... with USAA discount there have been some lucky individuals that have gotten as low as $33K (posted in the linked thread). I paid $46,500+TTL for my E350 + P1 + Pano just two months ago, so prices really have dropped recently!

Missed the boat here, as well. Could have got a new '09 E550 w/ P2 through USAA for under $43k. Unbelievable! Too bad I didn't know about it until Thursday evening (the USAA deal expired on the 31st).

Hi Maximus,
I spoke with a dealer friend and he said that the 10K july incentive is 8K for august but the USAA incentive is actually good for a year (4k for the e350). There is another 6k floating around that I cannot tie down.
He implied that the August price should be 2k higher than the July price. Can anybody confirm?
Also try Fletcher Jones; they have enormous inventory
The best deals I've seen are roughly $500 over invoice before all incentives. The dealer also makes 100bps on the MB financing (if they give you 1.9%, the dealer buys it at 0.9%, etc) and the holdback. None of the dealers would budge on the APR or the holdback (fume)
My best guess is that a dealer is still clearing $2k on the deal mentioned above. Just a guess though

In my continued quest for an E350 4matic, I spoke to a salesperson at a dealership in the Midwest that has an '09 E550 4matic that was used as an in-house car and has about 5-6K on it that they are willing to sell for $24K under MSRP. This is a more heavily optioned car (P2, Parktronic, etc.) that has a MSRP of about $73. It is Jade Metallic over Cashmere Beige. Sounds like a gorgeous car for around $49.
Salesperson is very nice and responsive and may even move further ... if anyone has any interest, feel free to PM me and I will forward the information.

I purchased with the USAA discount last week for the $20K off. I just checked the USAA site again this morning. There's a $2K increase now, but it's still $18K off. I still think that's a good deal.

IMO, I wouldn't wait long... by the time it comes back (IF it EVER comes back), there may not be any more 2009 E-Classes that you want available!
Remember that these offers change monthly, so you have 26 more days to wait until the offers change...

I just wanted to thank you for your posts on this thread and the other threads on Slickdeals and FW. If it wasn't for you, I would have never known about these deals. Currently, USAA is offering a price of around $36k and change. I think it's a great deal but I really want that $34k deal back. If it doesn't come back, it just wasn't meant to be.

The USAA showed Riverside. It was the best price. Long Beach was nearly the same. Laguna Niguel was a bit higher. I was surprised that none of the 3 San Diego dealers showed up on the USAA list.

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help!
Personally, IMO a $2K difference in a $34K-$36K vehicle that is worth $54K is such a small increase that I would recommend taking the vehicle IF this is the vehicle you absolutely want! Don't look at the additional $2K and think, "Sigh, I could have got it for $2K less last month, if I can't get this car at the LOWEST PRICE PERIOD, then I'm going to pout and NOT get it AT ALL!" Just think of the $2K as an additional 2-3 months of work (or less, depending on how much you get paid per month).
What everyone has to realize is that NO ONE is going to get the "best deal" on a 2009 E-Class... or ANY car or product for that matter! As time goes on, technology progresses, and older technology gets cheaper... it's inevitable. When I bought my 2009 E350 + P1 + Pano for $46,500 + TTL + 2 Payments Free in May 2009, it was the ABSOLUTE BEST DEAL FOR THAT VEHICLE CONFIGURATION THAT ANYONE HAD EVER SEEN! Then 2 weeks later, someone posted that they got that configuration for a little over $45,000+TTL. Then 1.5 months later people were getting that configuration for $38,500+TTL ($34,500 with USAA discount). No matter what we pay, someone WILL get a "better deal" than we did in the future, no matter what!
Therefore, set a maximum cap on the price you're willing to pay for the vehicle (ie: the most you're willing to pay for the vehicle AND won't be disappointed or regret it). This price should be REALISTIC for your area, and INDEPENDENT of all the other prices everyone is getting (ie: don't set your price $10K below what everyone is getting in Indiana, because that's NOT realistic, and if you don't live in Indiana, those prices don't apply to your area).
Once you do that, at the end of negotiations, if the price falls below your cap, then buy the car (even IF it's not the lowest price posted on "the forum"). If the price doesn't fall below your cap, then walk away from the deal, and maybe try another dealer (if you're up for it). Either way, you will NOT regret your decision. I admit I am a tiny bit envious about some of the prices I've seen posted on the forums/threads, but I am still very satisfied with my purchase since it was a price I was willing to pay for my "dream car" (yes, the 2009 E350 is my "affordable" dream car, and I don't plan on changing my car for another 10 years).
If I waited until the price went down to what it is now, then the dealers in my area wouldn't have the color I wanted (only blacks and whites are still available), which would have majorly bummed me out since even though I could potentially pay a few thousand less... I'm would drive a car that wasn't EXACTLY how I wanted it. It would also be too difficult to transport a vehicle from another state and register it in CA since it would have to pass CA emissions and there could be a lot of money and hassle involved (like paying thousands of dollars to modify the engine cylinders).
So IMO, I recommend you consider buying the car at an additional $2K... IF it's the vehicle you REALLY want. If it's not, and you really don't NEED a new car right now, then you may want to save that $36K and invest it in something you REALLY want, like another car you REALLY want. No matter how good the "deal" is, it makes no sense to sink $34K or $36K into something you don't really like, instead of investing that money in something you DO really like... just a thought!
