Stereo Control Unit Gone Dead Again!

My stereo control unit was replaced under warranty several years ago. This week the unit does not switch on when the power button is depressed. I have the MB extended warranty so I contacted the dealer to inquire about the warranty coverage. I was told by the dealer that I have to bring the car in for them to check it and that will cost me $100. If the unit is under warranty, then I don't have to pay the fee. So I asked what's not covered under warranty, he told me, radio, CD, etc. Therefore, most likely the unit is not under warranty, then I have to pay $100 for the dealer to tell me that.

My question is does anyone know whether the stereo unit is covered under the MB warranty? Many thanks in advance.

Warranty coverage https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...arranty-2.html may not be the headunit this time try checking fuse #28 at interior fuse panel (driver side).

Which warranty do you have and when did you purchase it. CPO warranty and the "new" ELW cover the COMAND, AGW, loadspeakers, CDC, etc. "Old" ELW and Starmark have very spotty coverage for the audio system.

I also agree with checking the fuse first.

I think mine is the older version and I just dug out the warranty last night after extensive search, and the unit is NOT under warranty. my MB warranty has too many exclusions for an extended warranty!

I have an extended warranty on my 03 CL and the motor on the command unit that spits out the disc stopped working and they replaced the whole thing no questions asked. I took a new GLK loaner at the time and was on my way. They even got me back the disc that was stuck in the old command as a result of the motor breaking.

I checked the driver side fuse box in the engine bay and I could not locate #28 in the fuse box. most of the numbers are higher than 20's. Did I look into the right place? I also checked the driver side interior for fuse panel but I did not see the panel, where is it, please? Thanks.

Open driver’s door, use recess at edge to open.

Tried this method last night, unforunately, the control unit is still not working. Any other suggestions? Is the MB dealer the only place that can fix/change the control unit? Thanks
