The description for US Service 12 states, "...DO NOT reset the Maintenance System Service Indicator if the oil is topped up or changed outside the interval of 13000 miles."
I understand why that would be if you top the oil up, but when you change it? Why is that?
I ask because I bought a 2007 E350 with 12,900 miles on it two months ago. Service C became due a week ago (the time limit was reached before the mileage limit) when I was at 17,000 miles. After I got service performed, they reset the indicator.
Am I in trouble because the indicator was reset at 17,000 miles (not 13,000 or 26,000)? Or am I okay because I got service performed when my car asked me to?

The FSS (Flexible Service System) monitors the vehicle so regardless of when the indicator was reset, it will continuously monitor itself from the point when the reset occurred.
I brought my '08 E63 in for service this morning and while it requested Service D, because of my mileage and after the service adviser checked my on-board FSS display, he determined that all I need for now is the equivalent of a Service B.
So you're not in trouble, just enjoy the car.
