Very odd noise when...
Last Saturday I picked up a 03 E500 CPO. The vehicle is in excellent condition although it has a kind of embarrassing issue. Every time I shut the engine off there is a flatulence noise, lasting from two to five seconds, emanating from the rear headrest area. The noise is not faint, it's cleary audible and I'm almost sure of the area from which it is coming. It only makes this noise when shutting the engine off. I can turn the key to the "ON" position without starting the engine, then when turned to "OFF" it doesn't make the noise.
I searched the forum but couldn't find anything relevant. Any ideas??

Could it be something to do with the Airmatic suspension? If it were the "SBC" it would be coming from under the hood on the passenger side. Check you Owner's Manual under suspension, you may find the answer.
There is a lot of knowledge on this forum, so be patient, someone will eventually come throuhg with the answer.
Good Luck with the E500!

Beano comes to mind have the dealer check the Airmatic central reservoir and associated lines located on the right side of the trunk.

Thanks for the replies! I was thinking it's something to do with the Airmatic. I've been lurking here for quite a while and there is definitely a lot of knowledge here. I'll have the dealer check the central reservoir and lines. Thanks again!
