Another Tire Thread - Kumho's vs. Conti's

Sorry about starting another tire thread but the search didn't come up with anything recent regarding the Kumhos.

Looking for tires for the wife's 2007 E350 Sport 4matic which currently has the OEM 245/40R18 93H ContiContacts on it.

I can get from TireRack either the ContiProContacts 97H, the ContiProContacts 93H, or a Kumho Ecsta LX93W for about the same price.

The Conti's have a TireRack customer rating of 7.1 and the Kumho's have a rating of 8.1. Based on the rating I'm leaning towards the Kumho's.

If you were me what would you do remembering the my wife will hunt you do and painfully remove important body parts if these tires have anymore road noise than the current OEM tires. Second concern would be tire life with handling being a distant third.

Really interested in anyones actual experience with the Kumho's and road noise.

Thanks.
Randy

I have Kumho ASX on my Lexus GS. Road noise is acceptable but they are not silent like Michelins.

My brother has 20k miles on the same tire and really likes them

Not that bad. If 10 = silent and 1 = R-compound race tires (Potenza Re070s) on rough LA roads, the ASX is a 4. But I've had the tires on for only a few months
