changing air filters in a 2007 E550

IN trying to save a few bucks I thought I would change the engine air filters myself. However I can't figure out how to remove the cover over the rear part of the engine. I have done it before on C class but this is different.

Thanks for any help

Just remove the two air inlet tubes. The front cover on the air filter. Then the metal bar that comes up over the back of the air filter housing in the middle, just push it towards the firewall. There is going to be a 1" diameter rubber hose at the front of the air cleaner that goes to the secondary air injection pump. Just pull it off at the air filter housing. Then just pull the air filter housing off just like you do on a C-class. When you put it back on, just make sure you hook the hose back up on the front for the secondary air injection or you'll set a code. The only reason they added the retaining bar in the back is to make sure the air cleaner is fully seated on the air mass sensor. The older cars would set Self adaptation codes and have no power if it was not seated.

SO many people continue to believe the K&N provide performance enhancement. They don't. NOT AT ALL.

BUT, they do eliminate all filtration and ruin your MAF sensor with oil film.
