RRRR! Brake Light Switch
Man! stealership got me yesterday. I had to get my back brakes(rotors&pads) done. Then my SA said that the computer was registering errors from the brake light switch.
pads and rotors = $630

I feel like working on her but way to scared. The funny thing is that I have no problem working on fords, chevys, etc. But scared as hell to even change the air filters on the benz ...LOL....Even though I finally mustered enough courage to do it. I was afraid the car wsnt going to start but it did. 
I did read the ALLDIY but my SA said that the error needed to be cleared but the STAR computer or I would keep receiving The "Visit Workshop" error. I would rather have mercedes work on the car and know that everything is working and checked as oppsed to me doing the work and the brakes not working going 80mph.
They also check the SBC pump and it checked out OK. It has warranty til 2014.

sbc pumps are required by techs to be checked every service, and will set a code for sbc pump to be replaced by time before faliure as a precaution. the nice the sbc pump is replaced a brake flush must be done and is covered as part of warrenty
brake lamp switches you can diy yourself, but if you get the adjustment wrong the brake lights will stay on. theres a trick to install using a quarter, but sometimes you have to do some butchering to make it adjust properly. when replaced techs can use sds equipment to see actual values of when the switch turns vs distance of brake pedal
