I have the same sound as your problem #1. I don't know the answer yet, but it doesn't appear to impact the braking performance. I'm having it looked at on Friday.

Did the dealer say what about the ABS would fail? Would ABS not kick in? Could this be tested by trying to brake hard?

Service contacted me and want to check for air in the brake lines. Is this common? They suggested it was for MB.

Air in the brake system will result in "spongy" brake pedal feel, not the kind of noise you encountered.

What you are hearing may be normal for the SBC hydraulic unit functional by opening a door, operating central locking system, depressing brake pedal, turning key to position 1, or operating the parking brake. You should know that a 10-year/unlimited mileage extended warranty covers hydraulic unit replacement if needed.

If air is in the system, you may hear a squeaking noise at the hydraulic unit when gently applying brake. Depress the brake pedal a short distance with minimal force at least 20 times if squeaking noise is heard and no fault codes are stored, SDS procedure will release air.
