Rear Dome Light
Just wondering if anyone knows if the rear (non ambient light) dome light from a 2008 E300 4matic can be swaped out for one that has the ambient light ring around it. Since the controls for the ambient light intensity are on the dome itself I figure it should just be a direct swap and will light up when the headlights come on. Any thoughts?

Are you sure about that? My ambient lighting is adjusted via steering wheel controls of the multi-function display in the instrument panel.

I can change my ambient lighting intensity through the steering wheel and onboard computer, but for the back of the car it is done with actual buttons on the dome itself. See the image below
If your car has pano I think it would also get controlled with the steering wheel.
