2005 E55 AMG
Arrow Cars worth & WorkSHops

Guys,
I have a 2005 E55 AMG with approx 39K and I was wondering what is its real worth today. On KBB the trade in comes to 28K for a car which costed btw 80K to 90K . It does not make sense to me . Do you gusy alwasy get the service on the cars done from the Stearship or get it done from reputable workshops? Does any one know of reputable workshops in NOVA?

In my area cars fitting your description can be purchased for the mid to high $30k range,
so KBB is not that far off on trade value. This is a case where you will make thousands
extra retailing the car yourself.

Dealerships rape people on trades. There is more of a profit margin on most used cars
than new cars. The majority of dealers make a lot more per car on a used car than a
new car. They get a double a dip on a clean trade when selling a car to the person that
traded the car. They make a hit on the new car and then a huge hit when the used car sells.
Most dealers will not put more into the car than what they are going for at auction. That
is in the off chance they have it for an extended period they can just take it to the auction
and not lose on the car.

2005s are really taking big hits with all the off lease cars coming back and the economy
being what it is. Also the huge hit MB took in reputation over the last decade. It comes
down to that old saying "It is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay".
Mercedes quality issues and some rotten dealer service has affected the
value of all but the collectible/vintage Benz cars.

The real question is; what did you pay for it when you got it?

Very good point. If he bought it new the pain of the depreciation must be nauseating.

Despite what the F&I Guy at the showroom called it when you were signing all the papers, a new car is NOT an "Investment". They are a lot of fun... expensive fun.
