For ANY extended warranty just read the coverages.
If it states "Covers ALL components EXCEPT for listed blah blah blah" it should be a good purchase.
If it states "Covers ONLY LISTED COMPONENTS blah blah blah" it is probably not very good---I would recommend reading the coverage list very good.
Remember all warranty companies are FOR PROFIT. They are in the business of making money, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is....

I recently purchased a 2004 E320 and had the same thing in mind. I am not a proponent of service warranties but if the price were right.... I went onto Google and found a company with the best rating/reputation and that is: <Carchex.com>. I was curious and today they called me in reply to my email to them. Are you prepared?? My E320 has 53,300k miles and I don't put on over 5k per year as an average and usually keep my car 8-10 years.
They quoted me $3,000 for 6years 100,000k miles whichever occurs first for their Bumper to Bumper plan. It starts higher but if you pay in cash and sign-up today you save $500.00. Keep me posted on your search/review process.

Thx for chiming in, everyone.
For all of the companies I got responses from, I asked them for copies of their contracts. Briefly, I'm down to the MB factory ext-warranty which was quoted over $4K and also the Chrysler ext-warranty - which is mid $2Ks.
I discarded all the others because of how their contracts were worded.
They all had a phrase at the very end - to the effect of "If the part isn't listed, it's not covered."
So, that's that's how I whittled the list down to Chrysler & MB.
p.s.: I even got a telephone call from someone I didn't contact. He told me he "bought my contact info from one of
the companies (I) contacted on the web."

You just took the words out of my mouth. I've always been advised by reliable sources that it's best if you buy an extended warranty/service contract to get it from the manufacturer. I intend to contact MB next week but I'll be out of town all week. You mentioned Chrysler's, did you contact them directly? Thanks for the feedback. I have to say that the DUDE from CarChex wanted me to buy ASAP and kept bringing the price down hoping to hook me.
