bleeding brakes

Can I just loose the bleeding screw & pump brake pedal, collect in a bottle & keeping adding fluid and pumping till the say 0.5 L water bottle is filled up...
Would this be an okay way of bleeding brakes ? Anybody sees any issues with this

Also, the car needs to be on (ignition key 2nd click where lights turn on) , correct ?

Two person job. one at the pedal, one at the bleeder valve. Make sure to keep the reservoir filled (don't want air in the lines - can upset ABS units)

It can get messy and brake fluid is nasty stuff

If you don't do it corrctly, it's very easy to get air into the system and it is a very, very outdated, tedious way of bleeding brakes, and it takes two people. I have a vacuum system that you attach to the bleed screw to suck out the fluid. I forgot the brand of the plastic pump about 3 feet tall, but I am sure there are other brands out there can do the same job. Try Amazon.
