W211 E320 CDI TUNING
Hi there
Have been speaking to a rep from Kleeman about the options relating to the tunings of a W211 E320Cdi.
He said that the 3.2 Inline 6, responds better to a remap (well a Kleeman box), than the 3.0 V6. And said that often the I6, which is supposed to be making 204bhp standard, is making as much 224bhp before any remap or tuning at all.
He also suggested that the I6 could achieve as much as 280bhp!! With just a Kleeman box and no other tuning?
What are people's thoughts on this? Anyone had experience with this Kleeman box? Are those power gains realistic?
Many thanks
Franco

Whats' a Kleeman box? The gain does not seem realistic because even with a turbocharger, I doubt you can get that kind of increase in hp. Just my thought.

Brabus D6 tuning
Its not all about the hp. More about increasing torque. I've got the Brabus D6 (II) tuning kit installed; 250 hp / 413 ft-lbs @ 1800-2600 rpms (vs. 201 hp / 369 ft-lbs). Now it launches off the line way faster, spins rear tires and cruises better.
I've read about others, Carlsson (good), Kleeman (ok), Renntech (ok), Powerchip (bad), others (bad). Brabus is one of the better tuners and doesn't just increase fuel rail pressure. Kleeman may blow abit more smoke out the exhaust, wasted diesel fuel.

I am looking at the pre face lift W211 Inline 6, with the increased displacement of 3.2 Litres. Does that Brabus remap only work with the 3.2?
Also, what was the cost for your car's brabus remap? How much of a performance increase was there after you had it done?
Thanks

I've got a Kleemann box on my 2006 CDI. The results are very good. It has been covered many times before but all it is is a fuel pressure spoof. Works great though.
I will sell mine for $500. It's 6 months old and in perfect shape. I'm selling the e320.

I agree with the results. Kleeman box helped turn my car into a sporty ride. Just traded in my 2005 E320 CDI last night.
I now have a Kleeman Box for sale. Will sell it for $450.00 (shipped in the united states). I also have a set of Bremmer Kraft 18" rims that are staggered and looked really sharp on the car. Tires have about 6K miles on them and I'd like to get $1K for the wheels and tires (pick up only in SE PA). Purchased both the Kleeman Box and wheels about a year ago, tires are only a couple months old. email me if interested cwvonlindenberg@yahoo.com

I've spoken via email with many of the companies which make tuning products for the om648 and will be posting the information which they've provided to me. I'm going to purchase a product and detail my results, hopefully within 30 days. If anyone else has already purchased a tuning product would you post here which one and what your thoughts are? Since the thread is already here it's a great start.

I bought CDI PA's Kleeman box almost three years ago. Every once and a while I take the thing off. The performance difference is not subtle, less lag, no loss of economy.

Obviously "less lag" means with the box you have less lag, correct?
"no loss of economy" means the box makes no difference for MPG?
thx

You are spot on, it has less lag (as I had said).
No loss of economy means mileage did not degrade.
I don't have dyno numbers just butt-dyno impressions, so I doubt there is anything else that I can say that wouldn't bring further scrutiny. Do some searches, there is no shortage of spirited dialogue.
One thing that I'll say is that with a 'box tune' you take a bit less risk, there is a ready market for the tune when you sell the car.
