Hello all,
Please help me understand...I read claims of performance gains from replacing the ECU chips. They can seemingly be had very cheap, and claim spectactular results. Are there any actual benefits? Anyone have experience?

I doubt it. I have mine chipped and all I really figure is by the same driving style I get a tiny better gas mileage. Power? Nothing noticeable at all. Lucky me, I got mine done for free so I didn't pay anything at all.
But if you do a comparison on the dynometer before/after with the exact same variables like temperature, air moisture content and so far you might see a difference.
The old saying comes in place: If you wanna have the power of an E55 (or any other higher powered one), get one!

I have the LET/Eurocharged ECU tune and there is a world of difference between my car and stock E500. My E500 is currently the #1 quickest on record with just this tune, headers and E55 mufflers.
