Sunshade (sides) for e500 help
Hi, I just purchased some clip-on sunshades for the rear passenger windows (2003 e500) and was not sure about the instructions for attaching the clips to the window frame.
Has anyone installed them on their car? If so, do you just shove the plastic clips into door panel? I didn't want to attach them into the wrong place and have a problem taking them out. They look flimsy... I didn't want to break the clip if I made a mistake. If you have pics I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance...

Factory side shades lower into the door by hand like a window shade. (Door panels are different). Dealer installed side shades just clip on. In either case, only the rear window shade is motorized.

We converted ours from the clip-ins to the roller type in the doors and it cost about $2K. You get to buy new door panels.
IMHO this is the silliest thing ever, as they were a $350 option and it's difficult to understand why every dealer didn't order every W211 with them.
As for the W212, I've looked at MBUSA's website and there's no mention of them at all. They are, however, listed in EPC, so for all USA W212 buyers it appears to be retrofit only.

does anyone know for the clip on shades, will these allow the window to go up and down and stay clipped in place?
also, when you buy the shades, do you get the mounting kit included or does that cost extra?

I purchased and installed the clip on ones in my 06 E320 CDI. The lower mounting clips just push in, make sure you put the correct ones in each door. There is a swivel that opens so you can remove the shade. Yes the do allow the window to be opened, however, i wouldnt recommend it as they could get sucked out or at the very least stretched out of shape. Do a search here there are some pictures of them installed.

W211 side rear roller blinds
How do you roll the factory side window blinds down into door panel?
