E500 Deal

I am looking to get a new E500 and the dealer just quoted me $3000 off sticker which as I calculate it is $800 above invoice. Does this sound right? Should I hold out for invoice? Has anyone done better than this. Is there a glut of E500s? By the way, the only options on the car I was quoted to order was E2 package, Ventilated Seats, CD and Keyless Go.

I paid $500 over invoice January 31 on a purchase. They would have gone right at invoice if I had leased the car. What I have read is that there were a lot of cars available December/January, but that Mercedes has cut production so there would be less inventory and therefore higher prices. Haven't heard anything really recently, but maybe someone else has more info. I bought in Los Angeles, which is a very competitive market. Good luck!

Thanks, that is helpful. I'm not sure about their reasoning since the quote I got was for ordering one to build with the colors and options I wanted.

In N. or S. California I think you can get about $500 over invoice price from many dealers.

I am assuming that these deals are being made on cars that the dealer has in their current inventory? Or, are you lucky enough to be getting these prices are cars you are ordering?

I was offered the same price for either on the lot or for an order.

Anything within $1K of dealer invoice is a good deal in my opinion.
This applies to quality cars that have reasonable demand such as the MBZ E-Series.

A bit odd don't you think? I would expect dealers wanting to move what they have on the lot as opposed to ordering another car and still having E-classes sitting at the dealer.

Given the economy and the large number of dealers fighting for a limited number of sales, anything seems negotiable.
